How ‘Keeping It Real’ Made ‘It’ WORSE | The Real John McClane How ‘Keeping It Real’ Made ‘It’ WORSE – The Real John McClane

This post is from an edited excerpt from my recently released book, “The Holocaust of Triggerization”

As you will read in the book, I have heard one or more gangster rappers say that ‘’… I’m just a MIRROR of what’s happening in our streets/society…”

At first hearing, that statement seems to resonate with a certain amount of jaded wisdom…

Upon further reflection, however, this statement is an exercise of cynical passivity…

Because, if you follow this type of logic to its’ inevitable conclusion, much of the progress and advancement of civilization made in this world would not have been made, as the great conquerors, inventors, leaders, financiers, and ministers would’ve said, “Nothing much for me to do, as I’m just a mirror of my society”.

Well, as I heard one notable Black preacher/public figure say in response to this narrow-minded philosophy, “… A mirror is not just meant for REFLECTION, it is also meant for CORRECTION…”

The PRINCIPLE that needs to be taught is this: Almost AS SOON as one perceives/sees/recognizes that there is a problem, you begin to formulate and strategize solution(s), lest you become guilty of some form of ‘paralysis by analysis’, by chewing on the problem, and never taking ACTION on the problem…

There was a man who said, “BE the CHANGE that you wish to see in the world”

You have to ask yourself – what was the outcome or result of so many people “keeping it real”?

The musings, the music, the mindset, the mentality, the manifestations, which created more memories of the same, made things WORSE, not better…

…for some of us would not have experienced the degree of intensity of pain, and the magnitude of trauma that we did, except for the fact that we were INDOCTRINATED into bitterness, we were TAUGHT bitterness, we LEARNED bitterness, and thus, we EXPERIENCED the subsequent bitterness…

QUESTION: WHAT is repeatedly reinforced within much of the African-American community?

QUESTION: WHAT are the visual images that feed a child’s imagination in the inner-city? Or, put another way, WHAT are the images that FUEL a child’s imagination in the inner-city?

I, for one, do not want to KEEP OPPRESSION REAL – FROM WITHIN OR WITHOUT…

I, for one, do not want to KEEP SLAVERY (to substances or anything else) REAL…

I, for one, do not want to KEEP MEDIA THAT PROGRAMS CHILDREN FOR A LIFE OF FAILURE REAL…

So my friend, WHAT do YOU want to KEEP REAL – or MAKE REAL in YOUR community?
