The GREATness of America | The Real John McClane The GREATness of America – The Real John McClane

This is an excerpt from my upcoming book, “The 21st Century Holocaust…”

At the 2016 version of the Olympic games, which just concluded in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, we have just witnessed a glimpse of the true GREATNESS of the United States of America. This greatness lies in the full and complete contribution of EVERYONE – not just some.

Nowhere is this greatness and total contribution exemplified better than the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, where the enthusiastic, young, beautiful women spanning the shades of the color spectrum brought home a collection of gold, silver, and bronze metals to the United States.

This was an Olympics where the United States once again, had the advantage, BECAUSE of her diversity. Because of this diversity, in a population of 321 million-plus people, the U.S. is able to field athletes at the top of almost every athletic discipline.

The U.S. garnered a record ‘harvest’ of medals, exceeding the record haul achieved in Bejing in 2008. There were 121 medals won in all – 46 gold, 37 silver, 38 bronze.

Again, in spite of the sudden and brilliant media glare, none of these athletes are ‘overnight sensations’- they were the result of a decade or more of work, building upon the toil, dedication, and successes of those that preceded them.

Note the labor that was entailed, the journey and the process that it took, the nurturing that was necessary, the decade or more of collaborative dedication, the expectations that became reality, all of this culminating in medal after hard-earned medal.

In so many cases, these athletes were spotted by a coach who could discern their budding potential and ‘tracked’ early on in their developmental process- not to mention the parents and relatives who served as sponsors and transported the developing athletes to event after event.

Instead of tracking people for failure, we need to parlay these athlete-development principles to other, critical fields of endeavor.

It’s not a question of IF people can perform, it’s a question of IF we are going to provide the tools for people to perform.

One of the hallmarks of America has been the ability to rise- the notion of migratory HOPE- a.k.a. UPWARD MOBILITY…

During the last 15 years or so, there have been grave concerns about this upward mobility disappearing, as we are not investing in our human infrastructure to the extent that we use to…

In this current season of demagoguery, SOLUTIONS are staring us right in the face.

Hopefully, our politicians, businesspeople, educators, and preachers, will take note.
